Designing for a Better User Experience
User Experience Design is something we as designers hear thrown about all the time. But what does it mean?

Social media is something most of us will use or at least hear about on a daily basis, so it seems logical for businesses to use it to their advantage.
There’s already a lot of businesses on Twitter and Facebook, but only some of these use these services effectively to promote themselves. So this week we’re looking into how we should use these websites to positively market our business.
With millions of users on the likes of Facebook and Twitter, your audience is unlimited. This gives you the chance to reach out to many users and gain a strong following. But how can you do this?
While it’s tempting to tweet about all of your company’s successes every time the opportunity arises, people don’t like when others “toot their own horn.” Not to say you shouldn’t self-promote at all, but make sure you break these up with tweets or status updates about others too. By promoting and following others you will add a personal touch to your business’s Twitter or Facebook, which is great as people don’t like talking to bots.
Commenting on others’ tweets or Facebook updates and retweeting what others have posted is a great way to build community. If you often help spread the word of others’ new project, you can expect others to do the same for you. This means better marketing for your products or services, as you may get some useful retweets that reach out to bigger audiences.
Facebook and Twitter are the perfect platforms to hear what the users of your products or services think. By listening to the feedback and opinions of your customers you can improve your products/services for the future.
Twitter is the perfect tool for following your interests. Make sure you follow companies and organisations in the same sector as your business. You can then keep up with the latest trends and news in your related industry and it will allow you to keep up with your competition.
Social media marketing is a very effective way of reaching your target audience as people who are interested in your products or services are likely to want to follow your updates. With interactions between you and your followers on Facebook and Twitter being public it’s the perfect way to gain more and more fans.
And the best thing about social media marketing? It’s free!
Social Media is great for posting quick updates about your company and keeping your customers up to date on the latest news. This gives you the opportunity to mention the projects your working on, direct people’s attention to the good things your company has been doing, talk about your latest promotions and also update customers of any changes in your products or services that may affect them.
Twitter and Facebook allow people to speak in real time through chatting and commenting so if there’s a problem you can help your customers by providing quick solutions or at least let them know that you’re investigating the problem. By being available to chat on Twitter when something goes wrong customers will know you care about them, leaving them with a positive view on the problem and encouraging them to recommend your service.
